Finally a mac version of Fusion that we can all use without any major differences when it comes to features. Upgrades for existing customers are reduced to $99, and both upgrades and new licenses ($199) now give users the ability to use their license on up to 3 personal devices running either Fusion Pro for Mac, Workstation Pro for Windows, or Workstation Pro for Linux. Yes, your Fusion 12 Pro key will unlock Workstation 16 Pro on Windows or Linux. Fusion 12 Pro now supports individual use on up to 3 devices which now include Windows or Linux PCs running Workstation Pro. On top of this, there is also a new pricing model for Fusion PRO. So if you’re a home user who switched to Mac but want to use Windows for things like DX11 games or other personal apps, you can do so, for free, with a Personal Use License. Fusion Player has the same features as Fusion 11.5.x ‘standard’ and more. Fusion 12 Player replaces Fusion 11.5 ‘standard’, and follows the same pricing and licensing model as Workstation Player, meaning that it is both free for Personal Use, but requires a license for Commercial Use. Well, the biggest change apart from support for the upcoming BigSur macOS and several more features is the fact that for the first time Fusion is FREE! I will focus on the macOS side of the story here. Parallels 16 was released a few days ago and today we got a new version from a leading virtualization company VMWare.Īlong side Fusion (virtualization platform for macOS), we also got Workstation 12, version for Windows. With each year VMWare and Parallels release new versions of their virtualization platforms. Considering that my connection is so slow this will take some time for all 68GB to download. Upgraded my Win10 LTSC VM from compatibility level 16 to the latest 18 and started to install Doom (2016). UPDATE: (23:15 CEST) - Upgrade from 11.5 to v12 was fine with zero problems. On the other hand, Fusion runs just fine with no problems at all. The game detects the GPU as integraded card and it will not run, so no joy. Yet, Fusion 12 does not seem to work.UPDATE: - No luck with running Doom. I previously used the Trial version of Fusion 11 with no problems on the same computer and virtual machines. After restarting the application, I cannot Delete the virtual machine unless I've first deleted the newly created. If I want to exit before this long wait, I have to Force Quit the application to get out. "Failed to power on /path/MSEdge-Win10-VMware.vmx". After a very long time, an error message appears: If I try to close the machine window or quit VMWare completely, it refuses to close the window and/or app, and says: "The virtual machine "MSEdge-Win-10-VMware" is busy". The button "Power On To Firmware" is clickable but doesn't seem to do anything. ![]() "Restart" and "Shut Down" are grayed out. Under the Menu option Virtual Machine, it says "Windows is off" and on the next row "Starting Up". In the Fusion main window, I see the clickable option "Clean Up Recommended" immediately after attempting to start the machine. Next, the virtual machine window stays black with a grayed-out "Play" icon. I have tried pressing both "Don't Upgrade" and "Upgrade" with the same problems, so it doesn't appear to help. When I press it, I get the question: "Would you like to upgrade this virtual machine?". After that, a black window opens with a "Play" icon. First Fusion says "Loading." for several minutes. However, when attempting to Start Up the machine, nothing happens even when I wait a long time. ovf seems to finish successfully according to the Wizard. vmdk file included in the zip is grayed out and cannot be selected. ovf file in the downloadable zip, in Fusion Pro, via New > Import an existing virtual machine. The problem seems identical or very similar with all. I have tried the virtual machines for Win10, Win8 and Win7. I want to run a MS Edge Legacy virtual machine, available from Microsoft here: I have just purchased VMware Fusion Pro 12.1.0 on MacOS Catalina 10.15.7. ![]()
